After meeting with the National weather service, Nicholas County Schools will operate on a regular schedule tomorrow November 21, 2024. We will be observing the weather and adjust the school schedule according to how the weather moves in. At this point in time there is a chance we will be releasing 3 hours early. Please plan accordingly in the event we must do that. By attending a school on a normal schedule we will not have to use one of our bank time days.

Recently there have been an uptick in phishing emails. The latest was an email imitating Superintendent Beam asking for your cell phone number. Please use caution when sending personal information to anyone. To educate people for their protection you can take this email phishing quiz. Nicholas County Schools will release 3 hours early on Friday, October 13th, 2023 for Faculty Senate. All Faculty Senate days will be a 3-hour early release.

Eighth grade parents: All Richwood Middle School eighth graders reviewed their personalized education plans today. Please review the plan with your child, then sign the form and return it to the school tomorrow. If you have any questions about the personalized education plans, please contact Counselor Shasta Williams at 304-846-2638. Students at Richwood Middle School will begin taking the General Summative Assessment on Tuesday May 2. This testing is very important for all students and our school. Please be sure that your child is present and well-rested throughout the scheduled tests. Thank you for helping to ensure the success of our students.

This is a reminder Nicholas County Schools will have a 2 hour early dismissal for students on Friday April 21, 2023 due to state mandated faculty senate.

This is an important announcement for parents and guardians. On Thursday March 30 at 6:00 pm in the school cafeteria, Richwood Middle School will host Trooper T.D. McFeeley of the West Virginia State Police Crimes Against Childrens Unit. Trooper McFeeley will share information that every parent and guardian should know about social media and internet safety. This information could save your child's life. Two lucky adults will leave with door prizes of a $50 gift card but you must be present to win. Visit the RMS Facebook page to pre-register. Richwood Middle School is now providing an option for parents to make online payments. Many fees such as field trips, spirit wear, activity fees, etc. will no longer require sending cash to school with your child. The link to register for online payments has been posted on our website and facebook pages. Registration is also available using the QR code posted at the Nicholas County Board of Education facebook page and using the app on every student iPad. This service will be available beginning February 1 in all Nicholas County Schools.

Valentines Dance will be February 10 from 6-8:00 pm in the cafeteria. Students who have been placed in ISS/ALC or on social probation will not be allowed to participate. Admission is $5. There will be no tickets sold at the door. Admission must be paid in advance using the online pay option or tickets may be purchased in the school office during the school day between February 6th and 10th.

The West Virginia State University Healthy Grand family's program is a free resource providing education, advocacy and information of services for grandparents raising grandchildren. If you are a grandparent raising your grandchild, please complete this brief survey. Due to the 2 hour delay for Nicholas County Schools on January 24, the trip to the Greenbrier Bunker will be rescheduled at a later date.
